TV in 3: Duffers Nab North Road Exec, Mindy Kaling’s ‘NSFW’ Seeks a Lifeline

Plus, USA Network and Fox Entertainment Studios combine indie forces on a new drama series

Today, I’ve got some Paramount-related news that isn’t about the merger (at least not directly). Check out my scoop below about the world of Matt and Ross Duffer as the Stranger Things creators begin to ramp up their film and TV slate at their new Paramount home. I also have reporting on a glimmer of hope for Mindy Kaling’s NSFW, the Friends-esque comedy canceled by Hulu after a single season, plus a look at how Fox and USA are using their independence to become unlikely bedfellows.

Before we go there, a kind request: The Dream Team here at The Ankler wants to know what you like about what we’re doing here — and what can be done better! I know, you’ve heard more than enough from me about the Dodgers — but I’d love to know what you would like to see in this space and in Series Business going forward. Take the 2026 Ankler Audience Survey, and you’ll be eligible to win a $500 American Express gift card if you do so by Sept. 1. (It’s quick and easy, just like Shohei’s swing.)

OK, let’s get into it!

Don’t stop here
