Troubleshooting

How do I contact support?

You can email subscriptions@theankler.com.

I can’t log in—what do I do?

Visit your account page to receive a one-time access code and magic link delivered to your email. If you still have trouble, reach out to subscriptions@theankler.com

I tried to log in, but I can’t find the code that was emailed to me.

Check your spam, and please add noreply@mail.theankler.com to your contacts list.

Why am I not receiving newsletters in my inbox?

Because we recently migrated to a new platform, emails may occasionally get caught in your Spam, Junk, or Promotions folders. Please check those folders and add newsletters@mail.theankler.com and noreply@mail.theankler.com to your email contacts list. You should also check your account settings by logging in and going to Manage Account > Delivery to ensure your specific newsletter preferences are toggled on.

I’m using a corporate email address and not receiving newsletters. What should I do?

Strict corporate IT security filters can sometimes intercept and quarantine our emails before they reach your inbox. We recommend asking your IT department to whitelist our sending domain (mail.theankler.com). Alternatively, you can reach out to subscriptions@theankler.com to transfer your subscription to a personal email address, which typically avoids these filters.

Why does the new website say I have a “free account” when I paid for a subscription?

There may be a mismatch between the email address you originally used for payment (via Stripe/Substack) and the one you are currently using to log in. We used Stripe as our source of truth, so if at any point during your subscription you changed your email on Substack or Stripe but not both, the system may be looking for a different email address tied to your subscription. Please contact subscriptions@theankler.com so we can locate your payment and merge your accounts.

Why am I hitting a paywall on an article even though I’m logged in and have an active subscription?

You might be experiencing a caching glitch where your browser is showing a “logged-out” version of the page. Try these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

  • Try a hard refresh: Press Cmd + Shift + R on a Mac or Ctrl + F5 on a PC.
  • Try an Incognito/Private window or different browser: This will let us know if an old cookie or browser extension is blocking access. If this works, you will need to clear your main browser’s cache and cookies to start a new logged in session.
  • Check your VPN/Firewall: If you are using a VPN or corporate firewall, temporarily disabling it can sometimes clear up server connection issues.
  • Another neat trick is to try using the ‘View in Browser’ link from the email of the article and it should take you to the article logged in with your email address.

Why can’t I see The Ankler articles in my Substack app anymore?

We recently migrated The Ankler off of Substack to our own independent website and subscription platform. Moving forward, you will access your content directly in your email inbox or on theankler.com, as we are only offering a limited amount of content on our Substack page.

I have a standalone subscription to a specific newsletter (like Series Business, The Optionist or Like & Subscribe) on Substack. Why am I listed as a free subscriber on the new website?

Standalone subscriptions purchased directly on Substack have not been automatically linked to our new website yet. Until your account is officially migrated over, your paid access is limited to the Substack platform, and you will continue to receive and read your full posts directly on Substack.

Why does my account say my subscription started on April 27, 2026? Did my billing reset?

April 27, 2026, is the exact date we migrated our subscribers into our new platform. Please rest assured that this date did not reset your billing, and your original annual renewal date remains completely intact.

Why can’t I access “Like & Subscribe” on the new website?

“Like & Subscribe” is a separate standalone publication currently still hosted on Substack. While we don’t have a subscription on theankler.com yet, select newsletters are shared with our Total Access subscribers. We are planning to migrate it to our new platform in the coming months.
