Ah man –“Greenerland” was right there for the taking! All director/writer/producer talent returning, rights to be sold at the CANNES market so will see if STX bites again for US rights.
Original movie made $52 Million worldwide during the pandemic plus a nice $20+ Million check from HBO for PayTV/streaming rights, on a $35 Mil budget. /Deadline

Kevin Bacon signs on as the villain in LEGENDARY’s “The Toxic Avenger” reboot, alongside Peter Dinklage as the title character and Jacob Tremblay as his son. Shooting this Summer. /THR
Moses Ingram (“The Queens Gambit”) set to play longtime assistant of Whitney Houston in SONY’s upcoming biopic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”. Her IMBD here. /Deadline
NETFLIX buys global rights for sequel to Canadian sci-fi film “Code 8” starring the Amell cousins Stephen (CW’s “Arrow”) and Robbie (AMAZON’s “Upload”). “Code 8: Part II” will shoot in Canada later this year, no price disclosed. /THR

NETFLIX sets Naomi Watts & Bobby Cannavale to lead new Ryan Murphy limited series
Called “The Watcher” based on a real life incident in Jersey (💪) where a married couple moved into their dream home, but were soon threatened by letters from a stalker, signed “The Watcher”. Yeah that musta been North Jersey.
The Watcher’s identity was never uncovered. Will shoot this Fall. /Deadline
ALSO IN TV
PEACOCK renews “Girls5Eva” for Season 2. No episode count specified. /Deadline
NBC cancels “Manifest” after 3 seasons. Show had planned out a 6 season creative arc… WBTV now shopping it elsewhere, first stop NETFLIX where the reruns have been doing quite well. /Deadline
HBOMAX developing “Perfect Strangers” reboot with Robin Thede and London Hughes, about 2 women who discover they’re half-sisters when they both inherit an apartment in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Why this needs to have anything to do with a TGIF show about a guy from Mypos that aired 30+ years ago… is above my paygrade. /THR
NETFLIX adds Randall Park, Aidy Bryant and Keke Palmer to voice cast for“Human Resources”, a spinoff of “Big Mouth”. Nick Kroll and Maya Rudolph will be talent here as well. /Variety
NETFLIX also sets Lizzy Caplan, Christian Slater and Clark Duke to lead the voice cast of “Inside Job”, a new animated series from the folks behind “Gravity Falls” and described as a conspiracy theory office comedy, inspired by supermarket tabloid headlines 🕵️♂️👽. /Variety

The video app which.. may or may not still be trying to compete with TIKTOK in shortform user-generated video, has most recently made deal moves in the sports streaming space, as well as buying VERZUZ of course, and they still have significant music label investment backing.
TRILLER says it has 300 Million Users globally… but declines to define what “user” means (daily/monthly/used it once etc). /Reuters
