The Ankler

Mornin! Here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on Friday, Oct. 30, 2026.

Where I can’t wait to see all of your Nathan Fielder Halloween costumes out there this weekend!

Although sadly, the A24 Store has somehow missed the boat on this one 😱 (but enjoy your 2027 Calendar of Movie Cats and Robert Pattinson Primetime nesting dolls! #realitems).

But they do at least have you covered for your popcorn-bucket needs at the movie theater this weekend.

But, um, whatever you do, please don’t go as Billy Evans from . . . certain scenes.

AH: INSTA is reportedly offering some creators / podcasters $50k to put their pods / “long-form videos” on the new INSTA Features program, according to BI. Some deals are also described as scaling up to $500k, but no further details on that. Again, these are non-exclusive content deals.

AND: Here’s how your college football team stacks up so far this year against the rest . . . on TV.

OH: Here’s a new one — TEXAS TECH apparently paid SKYDANCE SPORTS a fee of $1M to do the 4-part docuseries called The Program about the school’s football program that debuted on PAR+ in September, according to Sportico.

  • So, yes, we’ve now entered the literal “infomercial” era of sports “documentaries.” #FFS

YEAH: The MILWAUKEE BREWERS are joining you in your cigarette revival, Hollywood! Apparently the team was taking drags while taking batting practice during the World Series. Ah, come on, guys — you bring that back from the 1980s baseball era . . . but not the clubhouse beers? Your name’s the BREWERS!

PLUS: Gotta love the North Koreans stealing $6B from the crypto crowd at BINANCE this week — who knew 2-factor authentication would be the big plot twist in the next Ocean’s movie? Can’t wait for the scene where they make the elaborate plot to steal the website developer’s laptop!

THEN: REDDIT is shifting to become a “logged-in” product to deal with its ever-growing AI bot scraping problem. It’s starting to roll out the change in some int’l territories where you’ll have to log in with your user name / password to access posts . . . and it will calibrate the shift from there.

REST IN PEACE: Goes out to the legend that is Patrick Stewart, who died on Wednesday at the age of 86 from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia. A loss of another one-of-a-kind talent.
