Let’s be clear: It’s improbable for someone to predict the Emmy nominations accurately. As Christopher Rosen and I discuss on this week’s episode of the Prestige Junkie pod, noms inevitably include all kinds of shockers, usually because, as Chris puts it, “Emmy voters are very busy” — and they are simply going to vote for shows they watched over and over.

In past years, this has resulted in surprises, such as nine acting nominations for Apple TV+’s The Morning Show in 2024 or nine nominations for Prime Video’s limited series Daisy Jones & The Six in 2023. So what might this year’s major overperformer be? In our rundown of all of the major categories, Chris and I weigh the many possibilities, from what feels like the very likely domination of HBO’s The White Lotus cast to the potential for underseen but acclaimed shows like Apple TV+’s Dope Thief to score nominations for Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura.

In my newsletter later this week, I’ll be covering some of the dominant narratives to look out for among this year’s noms, from the fate of certain streamers to the actors who seemingly can’t lose. But if you want specific predictions for all major categories, you’re gonna have to put in those earbuds today.
