☀️What the new NETFLIX List is really telling you

DISNEY nearing deal for INDIA biz / NETFLIX Films has biggest week of 2023 / The crazy DODGERS TV deal

Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on WEDNESDAY Dec 13, 2023.

Where I think most of us were rather stunned to hear last night of the death of André Braugher at age 61. His family indicated he passed away on Monday after a brief illness, and his last project was the NETFLIX SHONDALAND White House series The Residence, which had shot 4 of its 8 episodes pre-strike, but obviously no determination yet as to how they’ll proceed there.

Certainly the loss of a major, versatile talent across many genres.

AND: 25 films have been added to the Library of Congress’ NATIONAL FILM REGISTRY, from big (Apollo 13), holiday (Home Alone), docs (20 Feet from Stardom) and one of the all-time faves in my DVD collection, Love & Basketball.

PLUS: Here is the NETFLIX IS A JOKE festival lineup for this May.

IN THIS EDITION

  • Important things to consider around the big new NETFLIX data drop, including what the Films data is indicating, plus context for the massive Leave the World Behind debut numbers and more.

  • If you’re wondering how the DODGERS can afford the Shohei Otani deal… look no further than their local TV deal – this is bonker$.

  • The impressive/not so impressive NBA Cup ratings, along with MLS’s whimper end to the year, and latest NFL audience domination, and much more.
