Where my condolences go out to the PARAMOUNT+ BUFFERERS soccer football club on their big loss this weekend. Yes, a tough loss in the Champions League final on Saturday… but just think of the Italian PAR+ subscriber growth!
(gotta say – nothing like a 30-second lag time between the game on my TV antenna viewing on CBS… and streaming it on PAR+ on my phone).
AND: In the wake of the week that was at CNN… I rewatched Network this weekend on MAX. It’s 🤯 that a movie from 1976 is still so spot-on about how the Media business works in 2023. The CNN/Zaz/John Malone overtones hung thick in the air as well.
ALSO: The reaction of people yelling out of their windows after Howard Beale’s “I’m mad as hell…” speech is basically the 1976 equivalent of social media.
PLUS: An additional shout out to MAX, who subtly drove home the themes of the movie… by showing me boner pill ads right after a Howard Beale speech.
OH: The plot line about corporations making shadow deals with Saudi money backing is just… 🤌.
SPEAKING OF SAUDI MONEY 👋: Quite an end to the PGA Golf RBC Canadian Open yesterday! Nick Taylor became the first Canadian to win it in 69 years 🇨🇦⛳️👏, with a pretty awesome ending (note for Janice & Elaine – a 72-foot putt is extremely impressive).
ALSO: TCA Summer edition is canceled, citing strike uncertainty.
