Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on MONDAY June 26, 2023.

Where congratulations to every single person making under $71k in LA County – you’re now considered “low income” by the state of CALIFORNIA! 🥳. It’s $80k in the OC, and… $104k in SF 🤯.

No word on what writer assistant pay is labeled, but given they can’t even write a joke to finish that off right now says it all at the moment I suppose.

AND: Good news everyone, TCM is fixed! Mike & Pam are now in charge – well at least on the creative side. Who knew “Linear TV Programming” was in their wheelhouse… where does the talent end?? The first idea – every Thursday is now Christopher Nolan day! (kidding, but hey worth a shot right?)

ALSO: Rihanna is moving up from CEO to “Executive Chair” at her SAVAGE X FENTY company. Former top ANTHROPOLOGIE exec Hillary Super is taking the CEO reins.

THEN: Here are your BET Award winners.

KUDOS👏: To 20-year-old Ruoning Yin who won the Women’s PGA Championship ⛳️ yesterday, becoming the 2nd Chinese player to win a major golf tournament.

BIG🏎️💰: Ryan Reynolds may have missed out on being part owner of the NHL’s OTTAWA SENATORS… but his MAXIMUM EFFORT INVESTMENTS (Rob McElhenny and MBJ are among the investors) is teaming up with REDBIRD and OTRO Capital for a $218 Million investment in FORMULA 1 team ALPINE (which has French ownership in the form of RENAULT). They came in 4th out of 10 in the 2022 season, and are currently 5th this year.

PLUS: Uh… good news for comic books! 🤷‍♂️ UNI, LUCASFILM, NETFLIX and SONY are joining MARVEL in avoiding COMIC-CON next month.

  • HBO is also not coming with anything (although MAX Originals may have a small presence). So I guess people will now finally be available to come to my birthday party this year!! Or at least will have to think of new excuses for RSVP’ing no.

WAKEUP BOX OFFICE CREW:

Kudos to the underdog 49% of you who picked over $12 Million for No Hard Feelings!

JUST A LITTLE INSPIRATION: Enjoyed this Tom Brokaw profile on CBS Sunday Morning this weekend, especially as I learned that we share a life mantra: “You get things done… by getting them done.” Preach Tom!
