This week, Rob Long points out that comedy now makes up only 10 percent of American box office — a steep decline. But if comedy thrived during the Hays Code, so it could again today, even in these politically fraught times. His thought? Greenlights in the genre require courage, taste and spontaneous approval. So could our entertainment corporations try being a little more Ronald Reagan, and a little less Nancy?
