📺 THE TV SET

NETFLIX renews Ryan Murphy “Monster” into a franchise, and “The Watcher” as well

“Monster” got a renewal for 2 more editions, to “tell the stories of other monstrous figures who have impacted society”. So if you got a guy in mind…

And somehow they’re going to do more of “The Watcher”, although not really clear if they’re gonna find another house that was watched… or extend this story in which the perpetrator was never found. Either way the people have spoken, and now so has NETFLIX.

Both series come from Murphy and ”Glee” co-creator Ian Brennan.

No word what happens when Ryan Murphy’s $300 Million deal is up in the months ahead. /Deadline

FOX orders another animated series

This one is called “Universal Basic Guys/The Hoagie Bros.” (which yes is a working title). It’s from SONY TV and Adam and Craig Malamut, who created the “Game of Zones” NBA animated parody series at BLEACHER REPORT.

It’s about 2 brothers who become unemployed when the town’s hot dog factory gets automated… but the town institutes a Universal Basic Income policy, and they use their free time to combine “free time and stupid ideas”. Can’t wait for the FOX NEWS review.

FOX is already launching a 2nd night of animation on Mondays this May with the Jon Hamm series “Grimsberg” and Dan Harmon’s “Krapopolis” among others. /Deadline

NETFLIX doing movie & subsequent series based on hit video game “Gears of War”

Which… happens to be an XBOX game. Oh hi MICROSOFT. The series will be an adult-animated series but more due to V than S rating categories.

The property was previously developed at UNI under Stuber’s regime in the 2010s. No one seems to be attached to the adapting work here at the moment. /Variety
