Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on MONDAY January 9, 2023.
Where the Golden Globes certainly got a fair share of promo time in the NBC NFL Ad breaks last night, for what was likely a highly-viewed Sunday Night Football game (granted, the venn diagram there of audience interests is probably not too large).
But – a tight game down to the wire is always good for the Ad breaks, even if my mom is probably a little bummed the PACKERS totally (and literally) dropped the ball and are done-fer this season.

ALSO: The NATIONAL SOCIETY OF FILM CRITICS gave Best Pic nod to “TAR” (and actress nod to Cate Blanchett, adding to her NY & LA Film Critics nods). Colin Farrell got the Actor award.
AND: TCA begins today (err I think – their TWITTER account has been silent for 2023, but the sched announced back in Nov is here).
PLUS: Congrats to The Wakeup Friday Box Office Poll crew 🥳 as 52% of you called a “M3GAN” opening over $22 Million.
IN TODAY’S EDITION:
The full Box Office breakdown – latest “Avatar” comp numbers to watch, Hanks’ “Otto” shows promise in 600 theater expansion, GenZ drives “M3gan”, ”Whale” is proving Specialty market haters wrong, and more.
PEACOCK OP disappearing in Europe?
