Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on WEDNESDAY June 7, 2023.
Where CNN CEO Chris Licht will not need to move his office back to the newsroom floor – he is out as of this morning, according to the NY Times, and here is WBD’s brief, official statement as they undertake “an active search for a replacement.”
I mean when you’ve lost Montclair, NJ… you’ve lost the media industry. (Google Trends report of Chris Licht search popularity by geographic region early this week).

FORE: The Athletic had a #goodread summing up just what transpired in professional golf yesterday for those interested. Face of ESPN Scott Van Pelt also had a pretty good assessment:

ALSO: The NETFLIX 2023 executive pay proposal that was voted down last week was pretty resounding – it was rejected by about 71% of shareholders, plus one “Wanker” vote from Roy F.N. Kent. It is still a non-binding vote and won’t effect anything.
AND: At $32 Million, Brian Roberts is the highest paid executive in all of Philly. By far.
ADD: “Instagram Connects Vast Pedophile Network” to the things Social Media companies, making tens of billions a year in profit, get a pass on… that no other company in America would. Hey – Section 230, whaddaya gonna do right?
OH: Sex and the City is now 25-years-old. You’re welcome 👴 (still a show I revisit every Summer).
PLUS: TRIBECA begins today, as do the SAG-AFTRA negotiations.

📽 THE SILVER SCREEN

NETFLIX Films Weekly Global Viewership Chart
Week of May 29 thru June 4
usual caveats: back of the napkin math, assumes everyone finished the movie (including the credits), no one watched twice, or that a bunch of folks didn’t rewind certain parts, etc. so consider these minimum numbers. and it’s based on NETFLIX’s self-reported numbers.
We’re in the midst of likely the longest stretch I can recall NETFLIX going without premiering a new US film… as it’s been 3 weeks since The Mother premiered, and we don’t have a new US film this upcoming weekend either.
This is where the International Films strategy steps in.
