Mornin! This is Sean McNulty and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on MONDAY December 19, 2022.
Where if the MINNESOTA VIKINGS can come back from a 33-0 deficit to win their game on Saturday, maybe there’s hope for the Streaming biz after all.
Though it was Tom Cruise ftw in this spot that dropped during Sunday NFL games yesterday. Well done PARAMOUNT 👏. Although all best in topping that for the SUPER BOWL.
ACTUALLY: A busy day across the board for big Hollywood NFL Ad spends:
NETFLIX pumping “Glass Onion” pic and “The Recruit” series
PAR continuing with their “Babylon” campaign
UNI utilizing that NBC Sunday Night Football promo inventory for their “Oppenheimer” trailer drop (link below in the TRAILER HOUSE – note: they also spent $$ on “60 Minutes”), and of course “Puss in Boots” as well
Not seen: SONY’s Whitney Houston movie, but maybe it was during a bathroom break in my football watching.
ALSO: Sending a Happy Hanukkah out to all readers who celebrate.
AND: Deadline reminds us that the MGM library that AMAZON acquired may not be so stale, noting that NETFLIX’s now #3 biggest show of all time “Wednesday” is actually from AMAZON’s MGM TV. Renewal negotiations expected to happen in the new year.
PLUS: A nice SNL farewell for Cecily Strong this weekend. I’m also putting another great sketch / impersonation from the underrated Chloe Fineman at the end of today’s newsletter to play me off today too. Points also go to Austin Butler for a good showing!
AND LOOK! I’M 30% OFF! Well just for this week – get a special, one-time 30% off discount on an Ankler subscription for a year here.
