Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect here on LINKED IN if ya like) and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on FRIDAY December 9, 2022.
Where if you’re looking for a place to up your street cred on STATEN ISLAND (and who isn’t), let’s have our Friday Morning Coffee ☕️ at Pete Davidson’s corner apartment up near the ferry.
For just $1.3 Million, you can be #thatguy telling people that Pete & Kim totally… also had coffee here. As for Pete, yeah he’s in Brooklyn now. and no you can’t visit.

BUT: Apparently Eli Manning can – adding just a little something here for any fellow GIANTS fans… the new episode of Eli Manning’s YT series, where Eli visited Pete Davidson’s apartment in Brooklyn Heights and it was pretty great.
#FunFact – Simon Rex is living in Pete Davidson’s apartment. Yeah that tracks.
AND: Here are your National Board of Review film winners, with “Top Gun: Maverick” taking the top prize.
ALSO: Kudos to the HFPA on getting Jerrod Carmichael to host the GOLDEN GLOBES next month, great choice 👏.
RANDOM BUT: If you ever wondered how much NBA athletes make in their sneaker deals – The Huddle Up newsletter (#noRelation) did an interesting break down.
PLUS: AMAZON PRIME is launching a TIKTOK or Dating App-style function (analogy depending on where you’re life’s at), whereby you’ll be shown a series of images & videos for products from shopping categories that you pre-select, and you “swipe right” on the ones you want to buy. Warning, products may arrive at least 4 inches shorter than advertised. Also can a 3rd party retailer also ghost you? Asking for a friend.
Wakeup BOX OFFICE Poll:
Congrats to poll crew last Friday 👏, with 72% of you choosing correctly that “Violent Night” would do over $11 Million.
No new releases here on Dec 9, although “Spoiler Alert” is going wider… last weekend’s total Box Office was about $55 Million, will this weekend cross $50 Million total?
AND: Give the gift that keeps giving the whole year long… a subscription to me! Um and the rest of the fantastic suite of newsletters & podcasts here at The Ankler of course.
A great holiday gift idea for any junior execs, assistants or interns in your department or on your team. Plus if you buy subscriptions for all 3 categories of employees, Richard and I will come sing Holiday Carols at your house gratis! Oh we killed that idea? Yeah good call.

📽 THE SILVER SCREEN
That’s new DC co-head James Gunn reacting in a TWITTER thread to the news of WB / DC deciding against going forward with Patty Jenkins’ script treatment for “Wonder Woman 3”, and reiterating that they’re still sorting this all out.
I.e. Not everything that was in motion at DC will still go forward (see: why they were hired in the first place), and no bigger picture decisions about the “WW” franchise have been set (I’d be pretty confident in Gal Gadot’s job security).
Read: they just didn’t see eye to eye with the Patty Jenkins script treatment, which is odd because that never happens with film treatments in Hollywood.
APPLE TV+ sets Matt Damon & Casey Affleck to star “The Instigators”
Doug Liman (“Edge of Tomorrow”, “The Bourne Identity”) is directing, the guys are playing two thieves on the run with the help of one of their therapists, after a botched robbery.

Reese Witherspoon & Alexander Payne re-team for “Election” sequel at PARAMOUNT… Plus
Huh. Look at the (seemingly) big bucks on PAR+ 💰. This of course will be based on the follow up Tom Perrotta novel “Tracy Flick Can’t Win” that was published this Summer. Payne is also co-writing with his usual partner Jim Taylor, and Reese / HELLO SUNSHINE is producing.
The book picked up with Flick as an assistant principal at a public high school in Jersey. Always the last place ya look…. /THR
