Where apparently uh, yeah Rosh Hashanah makes for a pretty quiet day in Hollywood. So this’ll be super quick today and hope all of you who celebrate had a good celebration with family!
MEANWHILE: Over in Singapore, here is pizza research report #2.
AND: The NFL is ending the ProBowl as we know it. Will now be a flag football game #yesSeriously the weekend before the SUPER BOWL, as part of “The Pro Bowl Games” which will include that game, and various competitions between players all weekend (guessing a la NBA ALL STAR weekend), produced by Peyton’s OMAHA PRODUCTIONS to air on partner ABC / ESPN networks.
PLUS: AMAZON has given up on waiting to release “Thursday Night Football” numbers a week later — Week 2 got 11 Million people on Streaming, about 900k less than opening week.
Which considering the heavily regional matchup (PITT vs CLEVELAND) is understandable. No sign of data on the linear audiences in local markets.
Although definitely no NFL love here in Singapore, AMAZON went the “LOTR: TROP” route to promote the service to the APOS crowd here in Singapore as they recently launched in the region.

NETFLIX buys Robert Downey Sr. docu “Sir”, produced by TEAM DOWNEY and LIBRARY FILMS, directed by Chris Smith. Premiered at TELLURIDE this year, no price indicated, will drop later this year TBA. /THR

NETFLIX sets multi-title deal with comedian and noted vocal NETFLIX critic, Hannah Gadsby. Includes a new standup special, and it sounds like other specials featuring talent she curates. /THR
Chip & Joanna’s MAGNOLIA network renews 6 series and is adding 7 new series this Fall including an action-comedy about a cantankerous grizzled contractor and his newbie caulking guy fresh outta caulk college who… ok fine they’re mostly shows about houses and cooking. /Deadline
IN THE EXECUTIVE SUITE
FOX Comedy head Julia Franz departs at the end of her contract, Cheryl Dollins is the new SVP of Comedy and will report into FOX Entertainment Prez Michael Thorn. Dollins was most recently SVP of Comedy at 20TH TELEVISION. /Deadline
💻 THE MEDIA BIZ
AMC issues more APE shares to raise more cash, general AMC stock takes -14% hit
Basically… looks like Q3 was as bad as we all thought it would be: the #2 theater chain goes bankrupt, #1 chain needs to raise more cash to make debt payments.
I mean this is nowhere near CINEWORLD-bad, but it ain’t great.
