☀️AMAZON’s Q4 hiring freeze turns to massive layoffs in 2 weeks time

APPLE TV gets Seth Rogen movie studio show / Ted Lasso campaign starts? / Q3’s ugly cord-cutting final #s are in

Mornin! This is Sean McNulty and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on TUESDAY November 15, 2022.

Where here’s sign #1 that indeed the “Ted Lasso” Season 3 Marketing campaign is likely using the WORLD CUP as a launch pad… Though no word if these ‘notes from Coach Lasso’ billboards to US Men’s Team players in their hometowns are indeed paid for by APPLE TV. (I still have a $20 on a CHRISTMAS release date… and if the industry news trends keep going in this direction, I think we’ll all really need it by then.)

HOWEVER: With the WORLD CUP starting on Sunday in QATAR, a British comic is going to livestream shredding £11,000 that day to protest David Beckham taking an £11 Million check to serve as an “ambassador” for the competition in the country, which legally bans homosexuality, and where women legally have to obey their husbands among a myriad of other atrocious policies in the country… that I’m sure won’t be discussed on FOX.

PLUS: Jay Leno suffered some burns to his face after one of his cars burst into flames due to a gasoline fire in his garage according to TMZ. He is recuperating in the hospital and says he’ll be back up on his feet in a week or 2.

IT’S A HONOR… : GRAMMY noms are out this morning (list should be here) – although I already was told my #nogrammys streak continues! The show is on Sun Feb 5.

ALSO: Paul Haggis’ total damages were upped to $10 Million total when putative damages were announced yesterday, after being found liable on 3 counts of rape & sexual abuse in his civil case. He will appeal.

AND: A rest in peace goes out to longtime “Days of our Lives” star John Aniston, father of Jennifer, who died at 89 on Friday.

GOTTA LOVE IT: Mackenzie Scott released her latest giving report, showing she’s given away an additional $2 Billion over the past 7 months, on the same day Bezos announced he was giving… $100 Million to… Dolly Parton.

IN TODAY’S EDITION:

  • AMAZON went from hiring freeze to giving pink slips to about 10,000 corporate employees in the span of about 2 weeks. Yeah Q4’s goin’ great thanks.

  • The final Q3 cord-cutting numbers are in and… yeah 2022’s goin’ great thanks. These Revenue-solving Streaming price hikes better work.

  • APPLE TV+ gets new Seth Rogen HOLLYWOOD series

  • Warren Buffett doubles down on PARAMOUNT, a look inside the “Yellowstone” audience numbers including an unexpected surprise, and more.
