Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on WEDNESDAY Jan. 3, 2023.
Where it was kinda fun to see ABC essentially go binge-model last night, with Only Murders in the Building’s 3 episodes back to back to back, starting at off times (9 p.m., 9:40 p.m. and 10:20 p.m.).
Also fun to see Martin, Steve and Selena on Broadcast TV!

ALSO: Anyone else find it odd that NBC gave no promo time to Ted on Sunday Night Football as far as I saw… a PEACOCK series premiering in less than 2 weeks? Admittedly I missed a chunk of the first quarter – but quarters 2-4 had nothing.
PLUS: Aaron Rodgers just can’t help the crazy from coming out… Remember when he was the face of STATE FARM? Yeah, they don’t either.

THEN: For any Kelce-stans out there (err, Travis, not Jason), the NY Times has a piece on Travis Kelce’s… managers, who have been at the heart of #TeamTravis since the beginning, and yes – they know he’s in too many ads right now (and no, they did not orchestrate anything with Taylor Swift).
OH: One of DISNEY’s new activist investors, VALUACT CAPITAL, is backing DISNEY’s new choices for the board, and not the Nelson/Ike/Jay show… making this about as ridiculous as it was when Nelson attempted this tired endeavor a year ago.
Another DISNEY investor, BLACKWELLS CAPITAL, said it will nominate 3 other people for the open seats who… I’m sure have about as great of a shot as the Nelson/Jay combo.
AND: TWITTER is now worth -71% less in the 13 months since Elon bought it, according to FIDELITY… who wrote off another 10% in December from the value of the billions 💰 they gave him to buy it. “But I mean, who could have seen that coming, right? 🤷♂️” as I’m guessing the person at FIDELITY largely responsible for the deal said to his boss on New Year’s Day, a person whom I’m guessing is also still working at FIDELITY.

NETFLIX Films Weekly Global Viewership Chart

Week of Dec 25 thru Dec 31:
usual caveats: back of the napkin math, assumes everyone finished the movie (including the credits), no one watched twice, or that a bunch of folks didn’t rewind certain parts, etc. so consider these minimum numbers. and it’s based on NETFLIX’s self-reported numbers.
Zack Snyder gets week two audience bump… but still lagging previous end of year NETFLIX hit films
Although the real star of NETFLIX in December is looking like Julia Roberts!
Not only is her end of civilization pic closing in on the 2023 title (details below), she has another pic getting a surprising amount of viewership…
