This week on The Rushfield Lunch, I was joined by the great film critic and cultural commentator, Sonny Bunch of The Bulwark. We considered the state of the critical establishment, its herd mentality — and whether it was still serving a real purpose. We also tackled whether these are truly the worst of times in pop culture, where the Trump movie tariff madness might lead and why Sonny carries the Zack Snyder banner in the face of all opposition. Sonny is one of the great thinkers writing about movies in this era.

Join us live on Wednesday, May 28 at 11 a.m. PT for the next edition of The Rushfield Lunch when my guest will be Tom Segura, comedian, writer and star of the new Netflix series Bad Thoughts.

My earlier episodes have featured everyone from Lena Dunham and Amazon Studios founder Roy Price to Substack cofounder Hamish McKenzie and longtime film producer and exec Ted Hope. I’ve also lunched with cultural commentator Ben Dreyfuss and the authors Matthew Specktor, Meghan Daum and Olga Khazan. All episodes are archived on our YouTube page.
