Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on WEDNESDAY February 1, 2023.
Where… well, one month down in 2023 😳.
But the 3 year anniversary of the last pre-covid Box Office sensation “Bad Boys For Life” (global gross: $425 Million) is a good time for its stars to announce they’re gonna do it again for a 4th time. “Bad Boys: The Way of Wallet” (working title - wait where’s my rimshot emoji?) is in early pre-production.
“Bad Boys for Life” directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and writer Chris Bremmer are all returning for SONY & Bruckheimer.
AND: A kudos to SZA who is now #1 on the Album chart for the 7th week in a row.
ALSO: Here are the dates for FALL OUT BOY’s Summer tour starting in June. Pre-sales start tomorrow.
OH: Tom Brady retired (again) from the beach in Tampa this morning. Sorry San Fran. A nice, refreshingly brief heartfelt note… acknowledging he already did his big hurrah last year - so just to say goodbye, and thanks. Not even a movie plug for this weekend. 👏
PLUS: As SUPER BOWL Ad news continues to drop… gotta say having Jeff Ross “roast” the PLANTERS Peanut spokesperson sounds fun - that is until we see how much if the HORMEL Marketing group kills the creative possibilities here on game day (this is a teaser).

Look - there’s so much information in this… it’s pointless for me to try and distill.
So - if of interest, THR seems to have everything you’d want to know about everything afoot at DC up in the link 👆 (clear at least 20 minutes), and how Phillips’ “Joker” and Reeves’ “Batman” films will fall into something else called the DC Elseworlds. 🤷♂️
But - there are still 4 DC Films slated for this year (“Shazam! 2”, “The Flash”, “Blue Beetle” and “Aquaman 2”), so I’ll just keep that in my cap and see how the rest shakes out.
At last week’s NETFLIX Global Box Office
usual caveats: back of the napkin math, assumes everyone finished the movie (including the credits), no one watched twice, or that a bunch of folks didn’t rewind certain parts, etc. so consider these minimum numbers. and it’s based on NETFLIX’s self-reported numbers.
”You People” had a… pretty good but not spectacular opening weekend, while a 2020 Lily Collins thriller pic took the #2 English-languge slot…
