If you’re one of the lucky ones at the Banff World Media Festival today, please say hi to our Elaine Low, taking a break from reporting from the picket lines to moderate today’s panel on international media. She sends this view:
Meanwhile, as striking writers soldier on, The Ankler looked at another titanic showdown smoldering in entertainment this week. Peter Kiefer’s masterful examination of the long-simmering Ari Emanuel/Bryan Lourd feud, laid bare when Ari publicly unloaded on his arch-nemesis, is complete with name-calling, poaching, money and, let’s face it, some pretty juicy behind-the-scenes power plays. Marked by very different personalities, the battle also grows out of diametrically opposing visions of Hollywood’s future. If you haven’t, get caught up on the agency war that could decide the fate of entertainment.
