Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LINKEDIN here if ya like or email me at seanmcnultynyc@gmail.com), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on Friday, June 12, 2026.
Where I guess DiCaprio didn’t have any advice about doing gambling commercials.
AND: The Jeff Shell / Robert Cipriani matter is settled . . . with a “seven-figure” payout going to Cipriani — but not from Shell or PSKY, rather from a “third-party attorney” according to someone familiar with the matter who spoke to Page Six Hollywood.
- Patricia Glaser, the lawyer who had introduced the two parties and represented both separately, offered to pay at least $1M to settle the matter, but the offer was rebuffed.
- So, interpret all of that as ya like . . . and Cipriani has pulled the lawsuit, so — moving on.
WELL: WBD shareholders shot down Zaz and other C-suite members’ pay packages in 2025 at the annual meeting this month, to the tune of 1.3B votes “No” and 245k votes “Yes,” or roughly a 6 to 1 ratio.
- This vote means absolutely nothing, of course, as it’s non-binding — and those same shareholders approved the tenure of the WBD Board members who gave those execs those embarrassingly egregious and shameful pay packages. Nice work, all! But hey — those KNICKS courtside seats don’t pay for themselves (well, unless you’re Ben Stiller).
YUP: PSKY sold off Shari’s NATIONAL AMUSEMENTS movie theaters (branded as SHOWCASE CINEMAS) that it got in the PARAMOUNT deal to a European company looking for a bigger foothold in the U.S. called KINEPOLIS.
- $30M for the 13 locations are across OH, NY and MA.
THEN: Alex Cooper’s UNWELL has signed the Girls, Disrupted pod with reality star Georgia Hassarati and influencer Isabel Timerman to its network.
AH: Turns out, the Saudis only funded about 1/3 of its $600M LIV GOLF funding commitment for the rest of this season, so . . . maybe let’s just move along the PGA re-integration? No? Wanna drag out this narrative for a sports league no one watches or talks about other than the politics around it?
SO: Enjoy your new driverless taxi commercials during the World Cup this month as the WAYMO PR offensive goes national! (Even though the cars are only in 11 locations nationwide.) Oddly, no mention of flood zones.
PLUS: Here’s another fun chart to go in the midterms TV ads this year.
ALSO: That “No taxes on tips!” Trump benefit isn’t having much upside with folks in Nevada, where other Trump policy “benefits” like $6 gas and a significant drop in Vegas tourism are more than negating any gains from tax returns.
