Mornin! This is Sean McNulty and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on FRIDAY November 11, 2022.

Where the best and only way to start today is with a sincere thanks to all of our Veterans, who made the choice to serve our country.

PLUS: Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos bought into a… fifth-tier Italian soccer team, according to SPORTICO.

ALSO: Paul Haggis was found liable in his trial for rape & sexual assault, ordered to pay $7.5 Million, with punitive damages to be set next week.

AND: T-SWIFT has added more dates to current stops on her Summer tour, including 2 more in LA.

F’IT!: NETFLIX will do it live! Their first major global live-streamed event will be Chris Rock’s next comedy special - his first uh, ‘televised’ appearance since the OSCARS. No date yet, just ‘early 2023’.

DISPATCHES FROM “The Future”:

  • OF WORK: WEWORK still lost $586 Million in Q3 (good news! down from $800 Million last year!), and will close 40 more locations.

  • OF AI: AMAZON’s Alexa unit reportedly still lost about $5 Billion a year (in “recent years”) according to the WSJ, and most people use their Echo speakers to do a low ROI activity called “listen to music” and set timers, not buy things, according to data cited by The Information. (Alexa is currently an area of focus for cutbacks & distributing employees to work in other divisions)

VOTE: One more to make this week… another straight up call for the Friday WAKEUP Box Office poll:

Of note: “Black Panther” opened to $201 Million in Feb 2018, “Wakanda Forever” is 30 minutes longer.

IN TODAY’S EDITION:

  • A #medianerd wrap up of the ENDEAVOR Q3 $$ results & earnings call, including a couple of odd mentions from Ari, and a curious comment on NETFLIX plans to note

  • “Halloween Kills” finally gets PEACOCK onto the NIELSEN list

  • More key top TWITTER execs out, a preview of everything new to stream & watch this weekend, a busy day in the Trailer House and more
