It will be interesting to see what happens with the upcoming release of The Witcher next week. Maybe the App should take a page out of Disney's playbook and release the episodes weekly, to get some free buzz. Will anyone be talking about the show after the New Year?
Absolutely. The days of releasing the entire season at once are over. It was fun while it lasted but if Disney had released all of The Mandalorian at once, we’d have talked about it for a weekend and moved on. Instead, they built a show that is growing its buzz and excitement weekly and dominating social media.
For Disney+ it was especially important because people would have watched every episode and then cancelled their subscription.
For Netflix, I think the extra buzz from weekly releases would help contradict the view that the shows are kind of forgettable but I doubt an individual show is driving so many new subscribers at this point
