Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LINKEDIN here if ya like or email me at seanmcnultynyc@gmail.com), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Where it’s funny what happens to an interview that CBS evidently told The Late Show that it couldn’t air due to threats from FCC Chair Brendan Carr over changes in FCC policy around political candidate interviews . . . which CBS maintains was simply legal guidance being provided to the show, and not an ultimatum. Ahem.

That interview now already has more views on The Late Show’s YT page in 1 day than every other video on there in the past 3 years . . . outside of monologues around the show’s cancellation and the FCC’s Kimmel fiasco (and a Doechii performance).

Thanks, Brendan! Doin’ a helluva job for everyone’s social media!

AND: Laufey is the next music artist to leave the WASSERMAN agency. Ashley Cullins has a new #goodread Ankler breakdown on what’s ahead for the agency overall.

PLUS: The NETFLIX fight card is getting pretty full with an impressive new addition — an MMA fight between Rhonda Rousey and Gina Carano on Saturday, May 16, at the Intuit Dome in L.A.

  • Disgruntled Super Bowl halftime viewer Jake Paul’s MVP is behind the fight.

MEANWHILE: TKO has locked up that sweet DUDE WIPES money . . . setting an official sponsor partnership with the wet wipes / toilet paper brand and the WWE.

  • It includes “first-of-its-kind integrations with WWE Superstars” that, well, I’m not entirely sure I wanna see.

ALSO: WBD added its cease and desist letter to BYTE DANCE’s inbox over its SEEDANCE 2.0 AI bot, alongside DISNEY and PARAMOUNT.

  • WBD, come on — didn’t you already hear BYTE DANCE is going to work on safeguards? This problem is over!

AH: The WGA West’s own staff union is striking against it, alleging “unfair labor practices.” The two sides are currently negotiating their first contract.

YAH: Josh Kushner’s THRIVE CAPITAL raised another $10B from America’s working class for investments.

  • $1B for early stage investments

  • $9B for growth stage investments

  • No word on where Hollywood fits into that list.

OH: Desirable 18-49 demo, it’s been real . . . 2026 Broadcast TV demos — things are finally swinging your way! 70%+ of the country’s wealth is held by the 55+ set.

YEAH: The chances of AI taking over Olympic figure skating judging by 2030 seem pretty high.

HUH: The share of babies born to unwed women aged 40+ has more than doubled since 2007.

THEN: Here’s your January NIELSEN Gauge, with NETFLIX hitting a new high share at 8.8% of streaming, while ROKU CHANNEL tied its all-time high of 3% from December.

  • NOTE: Viewership of apps like HBO MAX, PEACOCK and PAR+ from folks who subscribe to those apps through ROKU or AMAZON SUBSCRIPTIONS gets counted under the ROKU and AMAZON totals — not those respective studio streamers.

FINALLY: A thanks to CNBC for the invite to discuss the latest in NETFLIX BROS. developments yesterday on The Exchange.

Speaking of . . .

🧐 THE WBD AUCTION — Let’s settle this thing once and for all

So, who had 10 weeks in the office pool before WBD would officially re-open talks with PSKY?

But at least we’re down to the brass tacks portion of the proceedings — just to recap:

PSKY has until Monday, Feb. 23, for its LBFO (WBD knows how much PSKY loves Monday news developments).

  • PSKY has unofficially indicated to WBD that $31 a share is on the table, but perhaps more. It did not address this in its official statement on the development, still maintaining its $30 a share offer is superior.

  • Hey, just an idea — how about you just say what you’re f’ing going to pay for the company already?

  • This whole process doesn’t sell confidence in your operation. At all. This is you right now. Settle it one way or another.

We also have a NETFLIX BROS. shareholder deal vote set for Friday, March 20 (hang around after the vote for a screening of the Peaky Blinders movie that comes out that day if it goes NETFLIX’s way).

WBD continues to recommend the NETFLIX BROS. that it already has sealed to its shareholders.

We’ll see how that date holds should PSKY meaningfully change its offer, that NETFLIX would then have a right to match . . . although keep in mind, the 2 offers are not for the same assets.
