Evenin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on SUNDAY, September 22, 2024.
Where a congratulations goes to the NY GIANTS for winning their first game of the season! And having the same record as the COWBOYS. 😁
Plus, the GIANTS are also finally leading an NFL category! Unfortunately that category is Most Expensive Touchdowns.🏆
PLUS: A kudos to John Mulaney and Olivia Munn, who welcomed baby number 2, Mei June, born via gestational surrogate earlier this month.
CORRECTION FROM FRIDAY: Sabrina Carpenter’s NETFLIX holiday special on Dec. 6 will be pre-taped, not live. Although NETFLIX will still make you wait until 9 p.m. to watch it that day. 🤔
AND: I’m still not exactly sure why NETFLIX is trying to re-create Broadcast TV here.
In terms of folks thinking “it’s the ad tier” — I’m not sure someone watching an ad at 9 p.m. vs. say 2 p.m. on Dec. 6 is more valuable? But maybe there will be more integrations or . . . another reason evident once we see the special. Open to thoughts here as always — seanmcnultynyc@gmail.com.
OH: And my sincere apologies to PAR exec Erin Calhoun, for mixing up the last name there with former PAR exec Erin Kyle. 🤦♂️

A rare return for the bears on Transformers One — kudos to the 21%.
JANICE ON THE TOWN
Janice was at the Academy Museum yesterday for History Talks, from A+E Networks’ History Channel. The brainchild of A+E Networks' chief Paul Buccieri (standing), the event featured President Barack Obama in conversation with Malcolm Gladwell, President George W. Bush and Laura Bush; Bryan Lourd; Kate Winslet; and Doris Kearns Goodwin in conversation with Kevin Costner (get the buddy comedy ready). Spotted in the orchestra seats: Bob Iger, Dana Walden, and Ted Sarandos and Nicole Avant.
FINALLY: This USA Today story just fits right in my wheelhouse to remind us all of two things: “Everyone” is not living in the exact same pop culture world, and there is no one way to “do” celebrity.
Harry Styles was walking on his own around London, and simply complimented the outfit worn by a guy walking by him with a simple “I like your fit,” and struck up a nice conversation . . . and the man had no idea who Harry Styles was, even when he was told the name.
A fun read, with a nice cap on the end centering on the man’s deceased mom (the guy has since checked out Harry’s music and become a fan — “Treat People with Kindness” is his favorite).
