Every week on the Rushfield Lunch, I talk to the great artists, thinkers and gallivanters of our time and ask the question: “What the hell is wrong with everybody?”
This week, as I recovered from Toronto, I was joined by Ankler Media deputy editor and half of The Ankler’s Prestige Junkie team, Christopher Rosen. He’s an awards trail veteran and fellow TIFF traveler who offered some keen observations on the state of play in these nascent days of the Oscars race.
It was a fantastic conversation. Chris and I talked about the early contenders (including Hamnet and The Smashing Machine) and why awards season matters — and even came up with some modest suggestions on how to fix the Academy Awards. Plus, I asked him some existential questions like: What is all this hoopla for? Who benefits? We’ll follow the money and everything else. Check out this week’s conversation in the video above, and join us next week, on Wednesday at 11 a.m. PT for another thrilling guest.
