Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on WEDNESDAY, September 11, 2024.

Where despite the numerous debate and music icon political endorsement hot takes that abound this morning . . . today is always a moment of reflection here in NYC, especially for any New Yorkers who were here in the city in 2001 🙋‍♂️, and I’m thinking for other New Yorkers who were here, but have since moved on to other pastures.

I’ll simply recommend a fantastic ABC NEWS doc made for the 20th anniversary called The Women of 9/11 that really stuck with me, centering on stories coming from different POVs — including the incredible story of a woman who was pulled alive from the rubble of the WTC.

A different time in America to be sure, and one to #NeverForget. More NYFD firefighters have now died from 9/11-related illnesses than on the day itself, as 32 more names were added to the memorial wall at FDNY headquarters this week.

ALSO: Bad Bunny will be in the NETFLIX Happy Gilmore sequel.

THEN: SONY will launch its PS5 PRO console on Nov. 7, at a $700 price point. Pre-orders begin September 26.

HUH: AI, finally good for something! Or at least this new AI-powered AMAZON TNF 🏈 “Defensive Vulnerability” feature in the Prime Vision feed of the games sounds pretty cool. The AI will quickly analyze the offensive & defensive formations and highlight where the offense should attempt to attack before the snap.

  • Which seems to be “Run the ball!” this season — week 1 had the fewest passing yards this century according to Yahoo Sports:

PLUS: Just a nice gesture from the LAKERS: Players will be wearing a Jerry West patch on their jerseys this year.

AND: TRIBECA announced the lineup for its first Portugal edition (TRIBECA FESTIVAL LISBOA), including Anora, Bob Trevino Likes It and TRIBECA FEST winner Griffin in Summer, as well as several panel/conversation events.

  • It takes place Oct. 17-19, and is the first European edition of the fest.

OH: Larry David is doing a 10-city tour of conversations this fall (people talking with Larry are TBA). Tix go on sale tomorrow.

TODAY IN MEDIA CONFERENCES

GOLDMAN SACHS: Mark Shapiro at 1:50 p.m. (link to listen here)

FINALLY: For non-cable folks, here is Jon Stewart from last night (Hey PAR+🙋‍♂️, anyway we can use that NFL livestreaming tech on another day besides Sunday?)
