The Ankler x Screen International Launch 2nd Annual Cannes Film Festival Newsletter
Gregg Kilday returns to helm a joint daily from both titles, with Claire Atkinson also covering culture and parties along the Croisette
The Ankler and U.K.-based global film business brand Screen International will, for the second year in a row, partner to publish a daily newsletter from the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
The newsletter, ably helmed again by Ankler contributor Gregg Kilday, will contain Kilday’s smart, original reporting from the festival alongside Claire Atkinson’s coverage of the sip-and-soiree scene along the Croisette, while also delivering select breaking news, interviews, reviews and analysis from Screen International, the longest-running daily print publication at Cannes and the festival’s pre-eminent digital news outlet. The newsletter will hit the inboxes of all Ankler subscribers.
The renewed partnership brings together Screen’s unrivaled expertise and understanding of the international independent film landscape with The Ankler’s audience of entertainment insiders. It also signals an increasing investment in the international market by Ankler Media, with Ankler correspondent Manori Ravindran covering the British and European industry and community from London.
The Screen International team publishes print and digital daily editions from its newsroom at the Majestic. Kilday, who covered the 2024 festival via the publications’ inaugural partnership, will work out of Screen’s Cannes newsroom to helm the daily newsletter, delivered by 7:30 a.m. PT to The Ankler audience. This will mark the 19th visit to the Cannes Film Festival by Kilday, a veteran film editor.
The joint Ankler/Screen newsletter will run from May 15-21, plus a May 24 edition covering the fest’s awards ceremony. Separately, Ankler content will be featured by Screen International in its own daily Cannes newsletter.
“I’m thrilled to partner again with Screen, whose insight into the Cannes Film Festival is unparalleled; our audiences absolutely loved our lively, comprehensive coverage last year and we look forward to welcoming more readers to both platforms during the most important film festival in the world,” says Janice Min, CEO and editor-in-chief of Ankler Media.
Says Matt Mueller, editor-in-chief of Screen International: “Screen is delighted to renew our collaboration with The Ankler for the Cannes Film Festival and to extend the readership of our smart, must-read festival coverage to The Ankler’s intelligent and engaged community, and vice versa. It’s a natural partnership given our shared sensibilities and complementary readerships.”
