It kicks off with best-selling author Michael Wolff, a Goldman Sachs exec who came out as transgender, and Melissa DeRosa, Andrew Cuomo's former chief of staff, at Zibby's Bookshop
We are excited to announce In Conversation, a new live series from The Ankler that celebrates some of our culture’s most interesting authors and tastemakers in a private, invitation-only setting.Â
Our series kicks off in partnership with Zibby’s Bookshop in Santa Monica with three intimate in-person book talks, all moderated by Janice Min:Â
Michael Wolff: The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Fire & Fury will be In Conversation to discuss his new book about the Murdochs and Fox News, The Fall: The End of Fox News and the Murdoch Dynasty. Wolff is the best-selling author of 10 books, including Siege, Landslide and a biography of Rupert Murdoch, The Man Who Owns the News. (Oct. 16th, 6-7:30 p.m.)
Maeve DuVally: A former corp comms exec at Goldman Sachs, she came out as transgender at the firm, and will discuss her new book, MAEVE RISING: Coming Out Trans in Corporate America. An LGBTQ+ advocate and communications and diversity and inclusion consultant, she’ll share how she went from secret wardrobe changes in the lobby bathroom to walking in heels, post-surgery, through the halls of Wall Street’s powerhouse firm to meet with her team for the first time with a new identity. (Nov. 7, 6-7:30 p.m.)
Melissa DeRosa: One of the most powerful women in New York government, DeRosa will discuss her upcoming memoir What’s Left Unsaid: My Life at the Center of Power, Politics & Crisis, about her time as Governor Andrew Cuomo’s communications director and chief of staff. In 2017, she was appointed the first female to ever serve as secretary to the governor — the highest unelected position in state government. In her memoir, she shares her journey rising to the highest levels of politics, what it took, and the price she paid. She also takes readers front-row to the white-knuckle ride from the epicenter of the Covid pandemic to the never-before-told story behind the #MeToo scandal that brought down the governor.
