Stop Paying McKinsey! 7 Steps to Get Our Groove Back
Hey studios — save your money and read this instead
All this week, I’ve looked at the forces shaking this industry, and the crossroads ahead in what will be the most dramatic of years.
Quick recap:
On Tuesday, I looked at the people running this business and the pressures on each of them.
On Wednesday, I talked about the big question marks lying ahead for us all.
Yesterday, I considered whether the industry might have finally hit a bottom and thus was showing signs of a turnaround.
Today, I want to close out Tip Sheet 2024 by talking about what Hollywood can do to get its groove back. For understandable reasons, we’ve looked at the future from a defensive crouch.
But let’s all say it together: we don’t have to live in fear. We’re Hollywood damnit! Gababouts from around the world with too many billions in their pockets pour them into this business just to walk a red carpet! We can trick millions of people into watching sixty-something action heroes at the movies! We are magic.
I’m not really sure how the larger conversation about Hollywood became one about business and not about show business (our movies, TV shows and stars), but it’s time to show the power of the dream machine looking forward.
