☀️ SKYDANCE 2024 Revenues Likely Falling Short of Projections
APPLE TV+ casts up for series / SB🏈 streaming latency - who’s worst? / ‘Shrek’ storms NETFLIX again
Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LINKEDIN here if ya like or email me at seanmcnultynyc@gmail.com), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on WEDNESDAY, February 12, 2025.
Where with some fresh snow on the ground here in NYC again this morning — how about a little special Wednesday morning coffee ☕️ at Zaz’s NYC pad? BYO half & half.
No, not the CPW apartment he bought from Conan in 2010, but rather the West Village townhouse that can actually be all yours for a cool $20.9M — fully renovated!
And we totally won’t tell anyone that it’s not the townhouse where he did the WBD deal in 2021 (that was a nearby rental while renovations were being completed here).
BUT: Let’s hope Asteroid 2024 YR4 doesn’t hit it! Or uh, anything else on Earth — NASA scientists (we still have some left?) put a 2.1% chance of the asteroid hitting somewhere on our planet right around Christmas 2032, just in time for Don’t Look Up 2. Man, I really hope the NFL activates its 2029/30 TV deal clauses so it avoids that current 2032 deal renewal timeline issue. 😬
OH: Don’t worry, America! FCC Chair Brendan Carr is spending his time (and your tax dollars 💵) to protect you from the dangerous Hollywood studios! He’s now looking to open an inquiry into COMCAST’s DEI programs, and whether they violated equal employment opportunity laws. Remember when the FCC was primarily concerned with Dennis Franz’s ass on ABC? #GoodOldDays
So, who wants to tell Brendan that his party wants to disband OSHA, the department that generally oversees such things? (er — equal employment opportunities, not Dennis Franz’s ass).
AND: I feel rather confident saying that if Kanye’s swastika merch ad had aired during the Super Bowl on 3 local TV stations owned by a different network than FOX — Brendan may have been taking a different course of inquiry this week. Or any course for that matter. 👀
AH: Now we’re blocking press outlets which don’t abide by arbitrary cartographical Presidential Executive Orders from official government events. 2025’s goin’ great, thanks.
THEN: NETFLIX is reportedly considering the addition of video podcasts to its platform, according to Business Insider — which also reports the company had considered an Alex Cooper deal when her SPOTIFY deal was up.
RELATED: The latest Ms. Rachel number comps are down in the NETFLIX chart section below today.
HUH: Men with guns, meet AMAZON’s new format — women with guns!
THANKS!: To the BRITBOX folks for the invite to check out A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story last night on a snowy NYC night. Well done! Enjoyed it and consider me intrigued for the other episodes.
IN THIS EDITION:
Dive into the latest SKYDANCE financials to know in the latest SEC filing on the PARAMOUNT deal, and how the numbers compare so far to 2024 projections that surfaced about 10 months ago. 😬
Yes, you already know the Super Bowl viewership number — but:
Break down the comps to various platforms last year, how it changed and what number is missing.
Look at which streaming services were the furthest behind the game (odd how TUBI had the least amount of lag, hmm).
Also get all the sports viewership numbers from the weekend.
Including some pretty stark new PGA vs. LIV numbers, a peak for the NHL and the WWE seeing a slight uptick.
Plus its NETFLIX Films chart day — see how Amy Schumer’s new comedy pic stacked up, a new hit combining Korean and LATAM markets and the return surge of another beloved studio IP character.
AND: A lotta casting up around town, another big EFM project and much more.
