Evenin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LINKEDIN here if ya like or email me at seanmcnultynyc@gmail.com), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on SUNDAY, March 1, 2026.

Where for those keeping track at home of 2026 regime change — that’s Hollywood 1, Trump Administration 2. Only 10 more months to go!

PLUS: Here are your PGA Award winners last night. Although I had no idea this was turned into a roast! Or at least it did in the hands of Barry Diller:

  • On David Ellison: “Samuel Goldwyn, Adolph Zukor, Jack Warner — what would Jack Warner do to know he’d been succeeded by a stunt pilot?”

  • On the history of the PGA Milestone Award: “Cecil B. DeMille, Disney and now Blum: Not the most obvious succession, but then you also gave this award to Harvey Weinstein and Les Moonves. So there’s that.”

  • On Jason Blum, the person he was there to give the award to: “There’s some commonality with the great. DeMille made movies for $15,000, and so did Blum almost 100 years later. To say he’s cheap isn’t a characterization. It’s a defining attribute.”

NEXT: Tonight’s SAG-AFTRA Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards, stream tonight on Netflix at 8 p.m. Watch along with Prestige Junkie pals Katey Rich and Christopher Rosen at Prestige Junkie After Party, if ya like.

ALSO: No WGAW awards show this year, as its staff is still on strike. The East branch will still proceed on March 8.

AND: It still baffles me how this is on ROKU CHANNEL and not PAR+. Well, here’s your release date info! Enjoy your trip back to your high school years, millennials.

THEN: With all of the FY25 major movie theater chain financial data in — industry tracking service THE NUMBERS puts the average U.S. movie ticket price at $12.49 in Q4 2025, and +6% YoY, and well above the inflation rate. This includes IMAX/PLF ticket prices in the average.

  • The average price of going to the movies has gone up 14% in just 3 years.

WAKEUP BOX OFFICE POLL

Kudos to the 13% dreamers! The one week I don’t go high . . . 🤦‍♂️.

🎥 THE BOX OFFICE

Honestly, I have no idea which one this is from. Via Giphy

Well, say what you will about the likelihood of the Ellison #30MoviePledge — and a lot of folks have done just that to me and elsewhere lately (much more on that below the box office chart today — we could certainly use the movie volume.

It’s a good thing Scream did so well because when your #4 movie didn’t even make $4M, this is a very sad state of affairs — not to mention those #4 and #5 movies are concerts.

Hey, gotta fill those theaters somehow! (Does TICKETMASTER know about this?) Let’s dive in.
