It's not that I'm rooting for disaster, but... it's getting a little quiet out here.

In recent years, we’ve become accustomed to a very steady diet of massive upheaval and/or cataclysm. Between mergers, pandemics and social unrest, you can't make it to lunchtime without a few existential threats to keep one constantly on edge.

But for a few months now, it's been quiet on the existential threat front – too quiet, as they say in the movies. You have to go back to the Batgirl shelving for the last full-blown freakout. The month-long tizzy over Don't Worry Darling has the feeling of a restless industry with too much time on its hands.

So if a meltdown is overdue, where will it come from?
