The swallows return to Sun Valley this week. In these golden days of summer, one of the world's most majestic natural settings will churn with the world's most majestic accumulators of earthly powers.
David Zaslav will be there of course, alongside fellow Hollywood overlords Bob Iger, Shari Redstone, Tim Cook, Dana Walden and Bryan Lourd, to name but a few. We'll send our leaders off to shake hands with titans like Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckerberg, Peter Thiel and Elon Musk, among many many others. In the carport, newly clad in the retreat's signature jackets or fleece vests, they'll greet reporters desperately shouting across the tarmac — the least cool red carpet in history.
A few court jester reporters are of course allowed in, playing the roles of hard-nosed interrogators while facilitating the official off-the-record conversations (nice they can help out).
The conversations will include their thoughts on the future, AI, dealmaking, consolidation, and global tensions. We'll wait breathlessly for the next pronouncements from the Great Men who have built our new economy.
