Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect here on LINKED-IN if ya like) and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on FRIDAY, April 26, 2024.

Where MICROSOFT is apparently wasting no time amortizing those OPENAI costs (you don’t make $61 Billion in 3 months by keeping new products under your hat).

I mean, there’s no better way to demonstrate your vast professional expertise to your network . . . honed over many years, across numerous fantastic companies . . . resulting in tremendous ROI and KPI accomplishments . . . than having AI write your LINKEDIN posts for you.

AND: Local 884 (Studio Teachers) is now the 12th of 13 IATSE locals to set a tentative deal with the AMPTP. The Basic Agreement conversations start on Monday.

PLUS: Poppy Harlow is leaving CNN.

OH: Eminem will be dropping a new album this summer, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace).”

ALAS: I was not picked by the NY GIANTS yesterday, but 🤞 for the next . . . 2 days of the NFL Draft. BTW — the 86th pick (3rd round) is expected to sign a contract of $5.7 Million for 4 years.

Man, that NFL TV deal money is sweet. Sorry $76k a year WNBA rookies.

BUT: CAA certainly seemed happy (and broke out the big fonts . . . yikes).

TODAY IN BIRTH RATE PROBLEMS: Gee, what happened in American society in the late 2000s? Okay, fine yes, the Great Recession . . . but uh — that ended, and that number kept on going ↘️. Stop scrolling and put down your phones America!!

WAKEUP BOX-OFFICE POLL RESULTS

Well, a lotta POV’s on Challengers this weekend. Even though I’ve personally seen very little on this movie (though I did finally see an ad or 2 in the NBA Playoffs last night), I’m keeping a good thought that this campaign is hitting its target demo and Zendaya-stans will deliver — going with the $15M to $17M crowd.

See ya Sunday night.

IN THIS EDITION

  • The numbers to know from CHARTER’s . . . not great Q1, plus the larger #cordcutting and broadband service numbers to know.

  • A look inside YOUTUBE’s advertising subscription businesses, and accompanying ARPU.

  • ROKU’s turned the tide, and hitching a ride on the growth of studio & tech streamers. Plus — ROKU users, hope you like video ads when you turn on your TVs.

  • SNAP is the latest to indicate an advertising 💰 rebound (somewhat).

  • A busy day in new project news at NETFLIX, UNI, DISNEYFOX, CBS, AMAZON and much more, plus a look at the new things to watch / stream this weekend.
