Evenin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LINKEDIN here if ya like or email me at seanmcnultynyc@gmail.com), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on SUNDAY, November 16, 2025.

Where ya gotta love the GIANTS still literally throwing a game away in the final 2 minutes despite a new QB and new head coach. Sunday’s goin’ great, thanks.

THEN: SNL set Melissa McCarthy and Dijon for the next episode on Dec. 6.

AND: Ryan Coogler is going back to the MARVEL well for his next pic with Black Panther 3.

PLUS: Gotta love when the U.S. Government shutdown and the YOUTUBE / DISNEY standoff both end in the same week. Kudos to all the KALSHI winners on that one.

  • YT TV subscribers will now also soon get free access to ESPN D2C as well, good news for WWE (whose PLEs are exclusively on the service in the U.S.).

ALSO: The SAG Awards are now called The Actor Awards, named after the award itself rather than the guild, and I’m totally sure we’ll all refer to them that way now.

OH: Trump removed some tariffs on things like beef, bananas and coffee on Friday. . . but as only 10% of Brazil’s 50% total tariff was removed, this will do very little to lower many of those prices.

  • That 40% tariff is in place to punish Brazil for its prosecution of former Brazilian Prez (and Trump buddy) Jair Bolsonaro, a cause I’m sure all Americans are happy to pay more for their daily coffee to support.

UH: I know this TUBI/HARRIS POLL study indicating that 71% of folks have shopped online while streaming TV is intended to show, “Hey, great opportunity to reach people while in buying mode!” . . . but that behavior doesn’t sound too great for people actually, ya know, watching your ads? 🤷‍♂️

HMM: Another study of 5,000 folks found that 37% of folks watching TV did not have the sound on (or were using headphones or a hearing device). Eh, I’m sure AI media buying will fix all of this, right?

OH: Hollywood ambassador Jon Voight has called for Trump to “terminate” the results of a democratically held election in NYC. Thanks, Jon. Come visit anytime.

AND: I’m sure you all noticed that MSNBC is now MS NOW from your typical viewing of the network on Saturdays.

FINALLY: Gotta love a big Sunday night viewing menu. Choose wisely.

  • PAR+ Landman premiere

  • PBS The American Revolution premiere

  • NBC SNF has a good one with LIONS vs. EAGLES

WAKEUP BOX OFFICE POLL

The Running Man bears came up winners. My “close to $18M” guess was too optimistic.

BUT: A kudos to Glen Powell on a great SNL last night. This sketch on AI was very sharp, and this song parody was a lotta fun too.

THANKS 1: To the DOC NYC folks for the invite to check out AMAZON MGM’s The Merchants of Joy doc about the curbside Christmas tree selling business of NYC on Friday night — really enjoyed it, recommend adding to your holiday viewing on Dec. 1 (trailer here).

THANKS 2: To TKO for the invite to check out the sold-out UFC 322 fight at MSG last night — gotta say, the speed at which this sport moves is really more powerfully grasped in person, especially in contrast to boxing or wrestling (if you’d like to include a scripted sport in the mix).

AND: Never let it be said that the TKO team doesn’t also move fast! This deal was announced just days before the fight (don’t forget to put in the reminder to use a VPN to access POLYMARKET in the U.S.).

RECO 1: I know Jon Stewart gets most of the TDS notice, and rightfully so — but Josh Johnson is really killing it consistently as well.

RECOMMENDATION 2: If you haven’t yet — read Matthew’s #goodread documenting his cross-country tour of the small movie theaters of America that still make up a considerable part of our beloved motion picture industry.

Your turn to do more of this, movie stars.
