Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LINKEDIN here if ya like or email me at seanmcnultynyc@gmail.com), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

Where JP MORGAN CHASE is putting those billions it spent on a new NYC headquarters to good use — it’s allowing AI to write employee performance reviews of the work going on there, according to the FT.

So, if your review contains a phrase like, “Steve did a bitchin’ job in Q1 but lowkey his shoes look like they were prescribed by a podiatrist” — you’ll know that your boss uses GROK.

For the record, only the “in-house” bot is approved — and probably recommended that your job was no longer necessary. Thanks a lot, EduAIrdo 🙄.

SPEAKING OF: Add UPS to the poorly-attended massive end of October parade #WorstThemeEver, saying it has cut 48k roles this year so far.

PLUS: As expected, Ellison made the first tranche of 1,000-ish PARAMOUNT layoffs official this morning — if you’ve been affected or have some perspectives to add, The Ankler’s Elaine Low covers all things Hollywood labor and invites you to reach out: elaine@theankler.com or my inbox is always open if even just to lend an ear (seanmcnultynyc@gmail.com).

  • This as a Bloomberg piece emerged earlier this week about the WARNAMOUNT plan that seemingly sought to calm the rising concerns in town and elsewhere about WBD disappearing, from folks “familiar with the plans” . . . but when you read it — it kinda did the opposite.

  • I break down the details below today alongside PAR’s new huge production commitment on the East Coast.

  • Plus just a plug here for how A House of Dynamite did compared to recent films on NETFLIX in my weekly Films chart breakdown below today as well.

HUH: John Malone will soon step down as Chair of his LIBERTY MEDIA and LIBERTY GLOBAL businesses, according to the FT. No word on possible succession candidates for the roles.

THEN: YT Shorts is integrating direct access to Adobe Premiere Pro video editing tools.

OK: You know when NOKIA starts getting $1B checks from NVIDIA that . . . yeah, we might be in a bubble. Enjoy the forthcoming 6G cell phone service (a speed race that no one has talked about consumer interest in furthering in, oh, I dunno, 8 years?)

HUH: Turns out all of those ICE employment ads being run on cable TV aren’t attracting the best and brightest. Or those who can run a mile and a half successfully. Maybe it’s time to up the ad budget to over $10M of taxpayer money.

AH: SPOTIFY just added video to its APPLE TV app . . . today.

OH: FOX made another investment, taking a stake in its NFL analyst Tom Brady’s SHADOW LION production outfit.

AND: Here are your Gotham Awards nominees this year.
