☀️NFL sets new REDBIRD partnership for Sunday Ticket commercial rights
REGAL Theaters going 100% to creditors / NETFLIX's March-low week on Film Chart / MARVEL dates next DIS+ series
Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on WEDNESDAY March 29, 2023.
Where today’s ‘impromptu inspiration’ comes from UCONN basketball coach Danny Hurley, who has led his team into the Final Four this Saturday in convincing fashion, whose path there has taken some unexpected turns.
Yes, his family is basketball royalty - his father Bob ran one of the top high school hoops programs for 3+ decades in NJ, and brother Bobby was a DUKE legend & later NBA star.
But growing up as “the other Hurley” took its toll on Danny when he played college basketball at SETON HALL, causing him to develop a hard drinking habit (this was 1993 - “taking care of your mental health” wasn’t in the vernacular), and eventually hit the point of entirely walking away from the sport despite it being his only career or life aspiration.
That is until life intervened in a very unexpected way in a great story from The Athletic about finding your way back into something that you thought you knew… and were done with, only to find yourself surprised to discover that maybe not so much when you lean into something that life has put in front of you.
AND: Jeremy Renner will appear at the April 11 LA premiere for his DIS+ series Rennervations, a little over 4 months since his New Years snowplow accident.
He’ll also sit down with Diane Sawyer for an hour-long ABC special on Thu April 6 that’s already been shot.
PLUS: GOT: HOTD season 2 will be 8 episodes instead of 10 like season 1. So. 2 fewer script fees - yeah maybe the WGA negotiating points are onto something after all.
