MIRAMAX CEO out / 3rd top WBD int'l exec out as Q3 finishes / TIKTOK takes valuation hit
Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on TUESDAY Oct. 3, 2023.
Where JP MORGAN CHASE CEO Jamie Dimon said he thinks AI will eventually reduce the workweek to about 3.5 days, creating more time for people to get second jobs enjoy their lives.
Because as we all know, Wall Street is a huge fan of paying folks the same amount 💰 for working 3.5 days a week as it did for 5.
What’s that? Oh, no Jamie still wants you in the office 5 days a week. He said your kids will work 3.5 days a week… not you people - he’ll see all of you at the daily 8 a.m. in the “Old Money” conference room - and Johnson you better do a better job on the donut selection tomorrow.
PLUS: SAG-AFTRA & AMPTP talks pick up again on Wed., with Bob/Donna/Ted/Zaz expected to be back in attendance. Richard and I have a potluck lunch on the books with the four of them today that they just couldn’t break (I mean, Ted already made the cupcakes).
THEN: TIKTOK is doing a very limited test of a $5-a-month ad-free version of the app.
WHILE: META is floating at $14-a-month ad-free version of INSTA & FB for European users ($17 if you want to use on desktop too #NoFreeRides), as a way to appease/be in compliance with impending EU regulations… as well as test out what having zero user growth is like.
AND: Thanks to NETFLIX for the invite to check out Maestro in probably the best place to see it — David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center. Bradley was in attendance but doing no promotional activities, in accordance with SAG guidelines, so I’ll help a brotha out.
