Where Beyonce’s first-day pre-sales for Renaissance were about $6 mil to $7 mil, per Deadline’s industry sources (not AMC directly). The Eras Tour did about $37 million ($26 mil from AMC Theaters alone) on day one.
Renaissance tickets for an evening “Dolby” (not IMAX) showing at a local NJ AMC location on Dec. 1 are… $30 😳.
The Eras Tour tix are about $21 (well, for Oct. 20… the 13th is sold out clearly).

HOT TICKET: Kristen Wiig, Will Forte, Kristen Bell and Ana Gasteyer are teaming up to do a One Night Only improv musical benefit for the MPTF on Thu. Oct. 26, at the Glorya Kaufman Performing Arts Center in L.A.
It’s created by GROUNDLINGS member Andrew Leeds, and will be “a fully-realized production of a well-known Broadway musical where the improvisors are given the script and their roles with only 24 hours to prepare.”

AND: The U.S. Dollar is back! Yes, a strong dollar is good news for your foreign travel agenda, as it makes all prices in say, Euros, cheaper (current ratio: $1 = €1.05)… not great news for companies/streamers with a lot of overseas business, as it makes the inherent value/$ revenue from foreign subscription prices lower.
We saw this issue a ton in early 2022, and now with our high interest rates (30-yr Treasury rate is now at a 5% return as of this morning), it’s returning.
Given the Fed’s fortitude on keeping interest rates high for a while, it likely ain’t goin nowhere either. So - we’ll see what media companies (SPOTIFY, NETFLIX etc.) have to say about “fx” (the term for currency impact on its financials) once earnings season starts in three weeks.
OH: The 30-yr fixed mortgage rate is now 7.53% too. Mortgage applications are now at the same number as… 1995.
