☀️More WBD write-offs, PEACOCK layoffs show austerity isn't over
MAX & NETFLIX bundled at VERIZON / DISNEY pushes more pics back / STARZ takes another massive write-down
Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect here on LINKED-IN if ya like) and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on FRIDAY Nov. 10, 2023.
Where let’s go positive on a day with… well, more negative news and a twinge of late 2022 seeping back in (uh, now that the writers are back to work - can we find a new script for the industry’s narrative?).
So, let’s choose to end our week on high note in honor of the SAG-AFTRA agreement, with Fiona the sheep! (non-guild member as far as I know, although yes she’s named after “Fiona” from Shrek).
She was rescued last week from the bottom of a cliff in SCOTLAND, where she lived for the past… two years 🤯, having no interactions with humans or other sheep.
She’s now living on a relatively secluded area of a farm, after being sheared of over 20 lbs of wool 🐑, which revealed that Fiona was living the good life on that cliff - according to one of the sheep farmers who rescued her: “She was incredibly fat… she ate so much grass.” Don’t listen to the haters Fiona!
Shrek spin-off anyone?
ALSO: GRAMMY nominations are out this morning at 11 a.m. ET here.
KUDOS: To the DISNEY booking department, as Brie Larson & Tom Hiddleston are stopping by The Tonight Show tonight.
AND: LIONSGATE said that its 2 broadcast TV shows will be going back into production on Monday (CBS’s Ghosts and new NBC series Extended Family, which had already shot over half of its episodes pre-WGA strike).
PLUS: David Harbour indicated that he is reporting to the Stranger Things set in a couple of days (production was already underway when the WGA strike happened).
THE WAKEUP BOX OFFICE POLL RESULTS
I’m gonna go with the mid-range folks and go over $55 Mil… but not by much.
OH: Speaking of being an expert - Elaine, Richard and I make our Holiday Box Office season winner predictions in the brand new Ankler Podcast, up now:
