London Sanders is joining The Ankler as Head of Sales to lead sales and marketing across all platforms. She joins Ankler Media following six years at Deadline Hollywood, where she was most recently Vice President of Sales.

Sanders joins Ankler Media amid The Ankler’s tremendous growth. Described by Vanity Fair as chronicling “Hollywood in all of its naked theatricality, with a mischievous bent and a sardonic regard for the industry’s towering egos," The Ankler is up 47 percent to date year-over-year in Emmys season ad revenue, and 500 percent in subscription revenue since launching as a Y Combinator company in January 2022. Profitable, with 57,000 subscribers and more than 1 million podcast downloads, The Ankler is the second largest business publication on Substack and has the platform’s fourth most-listened to podcast.

With thoughtful, intelligent news, news-making conversations and analysis, The Ankler is known for its highly-curated, independent and uncompromised information. Earlier this year, The Ankler was also a Webby award nominee, and CEO Janice Min was named one of Ad Age’s Leading Women of 2023. Subscribers include scores of Emmy and Oscar-winning actors, directors, producers, showrunners and writers, and nearly every media and entertainment CEO and C-suite executive, with Vanity Fair naming Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav, NBC Universal’s Donna Langley, Lucasfilm’s Kathy Kennedy, Apple producer Richard Plepler, WME’s Patrick Whitesell and Oscar-winning producer Brian Grazer among our influential community.

During her tenure at Deadline Hollywood, Sanders was promoted twice in six years, climbing the ranks from Account Manager to Director of Sales and later to Vice President. She was credited with growing the FYC and Tune-In business significantly across the film and television verticals. She is known for prioritizing clients’ needs and balancing those against the identity of the brands she represents.

“London’s reputation as a savvy media sales leader and one of the industry’s top advertising stars is well-known throughout Hollywood and we’re thrilled that she’s bringing her talents to Ankler Media as we continue to grow,” says Min. “We’re living through a historic moment in entertainment and the work we’re doing to inform our audience has never felt more necessary. London fully understands how rarified The Ankler audience is, and the importance of premium curation for them.”

“I see a huge opportunity to bring sponsors closer to The Ankler’s audience, deeply steeped in Hollywood, as we expand our content, including into events,” says Sanders. “I see how much The Ankler stories and podcasts are shared and spoken about as the smartest voice in entertainment. I am unbelievably humbled, excited and motivated to be on Janice Min’s and Richard Rushfield’s team!”

Sanders is the latest addition to the expanding Ankler Media team, joining editorial hires this year including Contributing Editor Claire Atkinson, Staff Writer Peter Kiefer and Staff Writer Elaine Low. Sanders is based in Los Angeles and her first day at Ankler Media is September 5. She can be reached at London@theankler.com.
