☀️LGF ‘Flight Risk’ Wins Latest Lackluster Box Office Wknd
PAR gets Pitt pic / Tim McGraw drops out of NFLX series / More theatrical release date changes
Evenin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like or email me at seanmcnultynyc@gmail.com), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on SUNDAY, January 26, 2025.
Where you can just sense the excitement amongst FOX SPORTS executives at having the 2 teams I’m gonna #ESPNBET that most football fans didn’t want to see in the Super Bowl . . . make their way to the big game today.
Okay fine 🙄, yes, the CHIEFS have proven themselves to be huge TV draws and the CHIEFS presence also gets you Taylor Swift’s presence at the big game. But I’m sticking with my general assessment for football fans today outside of KC and Philly. A repeat of the same matchup from literally 2 years ago? 😏
AND: It was the 2nd most expensive TV ad buy day of the year (30 second spots in last year’s NFL Conference Championship games went for about $3M each), and here’s how Hollywood came to play (excludes halftime, and one small break for me to go get my laundry out of the dryer, but gonna assume I didn’t miss anything):
COMMANDERS vs. EAGLES 3 p.m. game on FOX
WB’s Mickey 17, Superman, APPLE’s The Gorge, UNI’s Love Hurts and DISNEY’s Captain America
BILLS vs. CHIEFS 6:30 p.m. game on CBS
WB’s Sinners, Superman, AMAZON’s You’re Cordially Invited, DISNEY’s Captain America, PAR’s Novocaine, APPLE’s The Gorge
Not spending today? NETFLIX (sorry Electric State movie, maybe in the big game in 2 weeks) and SONY, although it doesn’t really have anything major on the horizon.
BUT: I’m gonna guess AI will be the new crypto in the Super Bowl this year.
WAKEUP BOX OFFICE POLL
