Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect here on LINKED-IN if ya like) and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on FRIDAY, October 11, 2024.

Where L.A.’s production soundstage economy finally got a jolt of good news yesterday with a new client — Elon! Wait 🙋‍♂️ — where’s the good news I was told about?

Yes, all of that TESLA Robotaxi news you’re seeing out there this morning is courtesy of its “We, Robot” event that Elon held on the . . . WARNER BROS. soundstages yesterday, and I'll just let you make your own Joker: Folie à Deux joke here.

But it’s nice to see Elon ripping off sending a homage to the 2004 Will Smith classic from FOX with that event title (a movie which btw is set only about, uh, 10 years from now). Plus I’m sure Elon and Rupert had a good laugh over it at the latest billionaire dinner gathering.

So, meet both the Robotaxi and surprise Robovan that can hold up to 20 people. Oddly, no matter what destination you enter, you’re brought to a Trump rally. 🤷‍♂️

OH: The WNBA is expanding its Finals from 5 to 7 games next year (the LYNX won a pretty wild game 1 in OT last night over the LIBERTY), and the regular season will expand to 44 games (it’s currently 40), as the league welcomes a new GOLDEN STATE team.

All of which I’m sure will help with the WNBA’s likely potential TV contract renegotiation in the late 2020s.

ALSO: NETFLIX announced that a weekly John Mulaney live variety/comedy series is coming in early 2025, during Bela’s Bloomberg Screentime appearance yesterday. It also renewed The Diplomat for a season 3, and Nobody Wants This for a season 2 (with new showrunners Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan).

AND: This was a pretty fun and interesting read about WTF major retailers are supposed to do with the 24,000 800+ lb. machines left behind by the REDBOX bankruptcy, not to mention the 600 DVDs left inside them on average 💿.

FINALLY: Even though there is still 3 months left in the year — kudos goes out to convicted crypto exec Ryan Salame for taking the LINKEDIN Best Post award for 2024.

So, y’all can just hang it up until January, and I’m sure the fellas in cell block C will love the sharp wit (as always, uh, connect with me here on LI anytime for far less entertaining content #shamelessplug).

WAKEUP POLL RESULTS

Goin’ with the middle of the road on Terrifier 3 this weekend. I’m just gonna say f’ it and go with the $13M+ box office dreamers myself.

NEW ANKLER PODCAST EPISODE

I am not on this one so . . . I’m looking forward to the listen as much as you are!
