The well-known Hollywood journalist spent a decade at 'Vanity Fair'
We’re pleased to announce that Katey Rich has joined The Ankler as awards editor. Her first day will be April 29.
Rich will oversee our Prestige Junkie newsletter, which covers awards seasons for both Emmys and the Oscars. In addition, she will oversee the creation of our brand new Prestige Junkie podcast, which will feature the most interesting actors and talent from the world of entertainment. The Prestige Junkie podcast will debut next month. Rich also will serve as a live events moderator; her first appearance will be for our Ankler x Backstage Screening Series on May 13th in L.A., interviewing Expats director Lulu Wang and stars Ji-young Yoo and Sarayu Blue.
“I am thrilled to have Katey join our team. She has had a long relationship with Richard Rushfield, and a keen understanding and appreciation of great TV and films and has a real gift in conveying that passion to an audience with sophistication and authority,” says Ankler Media CEO Janice Min.
Says Rich: “I’ve been an Ankler subscriber from the very beginning, and I’m so excited to bring The Ankler’s signature wry insight and intelligence to Emmy, Oscars and festival coverage year-round to its audience, the most passionate, invested and influential decision-makers in the entertainment industry.”
Rich has been covering film and television for nearly 20 years, most recently as the awards and audio editor at Vanity Fair, where she worked for more than a decade. She was the founder and cohost of Vanity Fair's Little Gold Men podcast, the cohost of two Vanity Fair Oscar Party livestreams, and editor of the Awards Insider special issues. Previous outlets include The Guardian, Film Journal International and Cinema Blend. She is a graduate of the Wesleyan film studies department, and her favorite Oscar moment is Jane Fonda's momentous pause before announcing Parasite had won best picture.
