☀️ Inside Iger's Disney Stock Pop, What's Making/Losing Money
Big A-List movie deal day / Post-NFL season sports TV audiences / AMAZON gets 'Fool Me Once' creator's new series
Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on THURSDAY Feb. 8, 2024.
Where, good news! The median price for new Manhattan apartment leases finally went back up again YoY — it was a dicey couple of months there. The new price? $4,150. And don’t forget your broker fee (don’t worry, they won’t let you).
AND: Tim Robinson is doing a I Think You Should Leave Live tour in April and May with Zach Kanin (official sales kick off tomorrow).
ALSO: Unless I’m completely using PEACOCK search wrong… the service no longer live-streams its MSNBC Morning Joe and CNBC Squawk Box morning shows 👀.
PLUS: Of the $13.2 Billion that SPOTIFY made in 2023 revenue… $9 Billion of it went to the music industry (labels, publishers, etc), or roughly a little under 70%. And yet… 👇
TODAY IN JOB CUTS:
WARNER MUSIC is cutting 10% of its staff, or about 600 folks. Wait, I thought the music biz was the industry that had this whole digital thing all figured out?
Though to note — most are coming from its owned media properties like UPROXX and IMGN, which they are looking to now sell. Ah yes — digital publishing cuts, yeah that makes more sense.
CORRECTION: My apologies to the NINERS fans my brain offended yesterday by putting the BILLS in your not-in-Vegas hotel rooms item yesterday. Clearly it was a subconscious covert plan to put a New York team in the Super Bowl, although I am guessing there are some BILLS staying on the Strip in Vegas this week.
WAKEUP POLL RESULTS
Pretty wide split on the pricing thoughts here… though most are going $35 to $44.99 a month.
IN TODAY’S EDITION:

Also - note the things Iger didn’t talk about as well…
Breakdowns of Streaming, Linear TV, Movies, India, ESPN/Sports and Theme Parks. Oh and that profit margin on Consumer Products is pretty 🤌 — we’ve clearly all gone into the wrong business.
Oh right - movie project news with Margot Robbie, Celine Song, Colin Farrell, Michael B. Jordan and Jason Bateman. Just another quiet day in the 2024 movie business…
Plus a look at what sports TV audiences look like here in post-NFL times and more.
