Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LINKEDIN here if ya like or email me at seanmcnultynyc@gmail.com), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

Where there’s nothing quite like Dario Amodei, the head of ANTHROPIC (one of the leading companies in the AI race), giving some real talk about how many entry-level jobs AI is gonna wipe out . . . probably before the end of Trump’s term. And I’m not even talking about his 3rd one.

Sure, some jobs will be created . . . but Amodei told Axios that he could see half of white-collar entry-level jobs being wiped out by 2030, with a significant portion beginning to erode within the next 2 years. 👀 Shockingly, he didn’t even mention writers’ rooms!

THANKS: To SONY for the invite to check out the premiere of Karate Kid: Legends last night in NYC — I’m always a sucker for a good training montage (👏 for Joshua Jackson really relishing his!).

Sadly, my decision to relive my experience of seeing the original Karate Kid in 1984 by doing some kicks outside the theater was less enjoyable, and I think I have something new to work on in physical therapy today.

🍿 THE BOX OFFICE

Hollywood remembers family films, box office tide rides

In Hollywood’s “Q1 that wasn’t (again)” this year at the box office — despite continued studio devotion to horror, and action genres making up most of the movie volume . . . the biggest movies in actual global box office 🤑 (ex. Captain America 4) were:
