☀️Hollywood Winners & Losers in Trump, the Sequel
NETFLIX finds 2nd horror win / What Big Tech AI spends mean for Hollywood / LGF makes sched shifts
Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on WEDNESDAY, November 6, 2024.
Where Hollywood has finally met a reboot idea it doesn’t like (so much for that “We probably won’t know ‘til Thursday” talk). On the other hand, hey — no more f’ing election ads on TV! Look folks, that’s all I got.
However, it’s at least safe to come out of your viewership bunkers America . . . as it’s now just back to pharmaceuticals that can change your health, how AI is going to change your life and something called “movies.” 🤷♂️
Axios has just how election ad spending broke out this year — Republicans were really targeting streaming 🧐:
As for lessons (re)learned here — social and health motivations will always be beat by wallet motivations at the American ballot box. Even though inflation is back down, the pain from the past 2 years remains very fresh . . . and here we are.
AND: Gotta love AMAZON making Election night at 12 a.m. ET the embargo time for the Red One movie reviews, a film that does not come out 'til next Friday.
OH: 48 states are now in some kind of drought watch or warning unless you’ve recently had a hurricane ravage your area essentially. Or live in Alaska or . . . somehow, uh, L.A. Don’t worry, I’ve been told Trump will fix it.
KUDOS: Let’s round out the top here today with a shout out to this guy 👇 on his Hollywood outfit and 4-year beard-growing commitment for the NYC marathon last weekend. Way to show folks how it’s done, Antonio. 👏
ELECTION NIGHT COVERAGE COVERAGE
Well, PEACOCK’s Kornacki cam was indeed literally just an iPhone live-streaming from his desk (okay fine, I’m sure it was a real camera) that was also avail for free on YOUTUBE. Riveting content here, folks.
Also, a curious choice to position the camera so his back was to it every time he went up to his magic TV screen on the main NBC NEWS feed.
BUT: I did enjoy the PEACOCK multi-cam setup and chose this as the place to post up for the evening, so a kudos to NBC NEWS!
Now, here’s how the streaming services offered coverage — and a look at how big the audiences were on the world’s most popular streaming platform last night, YOUTUBE (the long tail lives!) — as well as some Winners & Losers in Hollywood and the media in a 2nd Trump term.
