HBO & WBD skipping TCA, inciting looming layoffs talk
What to do with HULU? / HBO sets (rumored) $10 Mil Jerrod Carmichael deal / Hollywood remembers James Caan
Mornin! This is Sean McNulty and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on FRIDAY July 8, 2022.
Where let’s have our Friday morning coffee ☕️ at a house that couldn’t say “Drake lived here” more, unless the tennis court was painted with this 🇨🇦.
We’ve got:
“Scarface” playing on every TV in the house…
A full immersive tiled bath…
Plush fur-lined chairs and rug in the bedroom next to the purple velvet couch…
A recording studio - ok that one’s kinda spot on
And of course a grotto - including a bar with 3 TV’s in it… which inexplicably are not playing “Scarface”.
Sadly DRAKE just sold this Hidden Hills, CA gem for $11.3 Million to a former US Assistant Attorney General in the Trump administration, so I can’t wait to hear what jams he cuts in the studio… but let’s put a little maple syrup in our coffee in honour 🍁.
AND: Kudos to the UNI synergy as UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD has reconstructed the fictional theme park in “Nope” for folks to visit as of opening day July 22. You can almost see the TIKTOK’s now… 😱
PLUS: On Broadway - A new show “& Juliet” from “Schitt’s Creek” writer David West Read will begin previews at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Oct. 28, with official open on Nov. 17.
The story sounds fun - imagines what woulda happened if Juliet didn’t die at the end of “Romeo & Juliet” (#spoileralert) and is set to songs from pop guru Max Martin (“Since U Been Gone”, “Larger Than Life”, “Can’t Stop The Feeling” etc).
“Almost Famous” also set a home at the Bernard Jacobs Theater, and set a previews start date of Oct 3 & opening of Nov 3.
ALSO: Just a big ⛳️👏 to the guy who took Hugh Grant’s advice on TWITTER and blasted the Benny Hill theme song behind all the reporters doing live shots from Boris Johnson’s resignation speech.
