'Grey's Anatomy' Writer Stonewalls Disney
UPDATE: Attempts to obtain Elisabeth Finch's medical records are at an impasse
By Peter Kiefer
Just days after launching an inquiry into Grey’s Anatomy writer Elisabeth Finch, The Ankler has learned that lawyers for the Walt Disney Company have quickly run into a tricky roadblock. Finch, a star writer and producer of the show who was placed on administrative leave over concerns she may have fabricated details over her personal live, has so far, through her attorney, declined to provide any medical records to Disney that could exonerate her and definitively prove that she had actually suffered from a variety of ailments including cancer.
According to a source with knowledge of the now two-week-old inquiry, Finch’s lawyer is not cooperating in providing records, nor is he offering up Finch to sit for an examination which would satisfy a request made by Disney lawyers who are trying to determine if the 44-year-old Finch did indeed once have a rare form of bone cancer. The bone cancer, she had publicly revealed over the years, led to a number of other medical problems which the writer documented in a number of essays and shared in interviews used to promote Grey’s Anatomy (and her own brand) in The Hollywood Reporter, Elle and Shonda Rhimes’ own Shondaland website.
